Blue Ridge Wildflowers

The Blue Ridge range of the southern Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina hosts an abundance of flora, some of which are unique in that they are found nowhere else south of Canada. During the last ice age plants retreated south before the ice flows. When the ice dissipated some plants from the northern clime remained at upper altitudes where the climate is similar.

These plants and blooms are primarily found in the Spring, though wildflowers bloom all through the growing seasons. I hope to extend this to include Summer and Fall. Don't hold your breath, though...
